5 Things to Check Before Choosing a Calibration Lab to Be Audit-Ready!

From our experience at the TMC team speaking with many factories over the past year, a common problem is not that they haven’t calibrated, but that after calibration, they still aren’t ready for an audit. Today, TMC would like to recommend checking these 5 points before choosing a calibration lab.

1️⃣ Must Have Proper Accreditation The calibration lab should be accredited, such as ISO/IEC 17025, and the certificate must not be expired because auditors will look to see if the calibration results come from a lab that is “trustworthy.”
2️⃣ Accreditation Scope Must Match Actual Use It’s not enough that the lab can calibrate; it must cover the measurement ranges actually used. Calibration outside the scope is likely to raise questions from auditors.
3️⃣ Documentation Must Be Clear and Traceable A good certificate should:

3.2. Include complete equipment information
3.3. Have clear traceability Documentation that can answer auditors’ questions helps reduce worries on the audit day.
4️⃣ Labs must understand factory operations, not just follow procedures.

5️⃣ Able to provide consultation, not just issue certificates.
